Installation in 'Prelude' exhibition at Koo Ming Kwon Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong (19 June–2 July 2010)

While I consider myself a designer, I also don’t really believe in the traditional distinctions between art and design. Therefore, every once in a while I like to throw a piece into the ring and see what happens.

The installation ‘Escape’ – shown in the exhibition ‘Prelude’, curated by Dr. Momo Leung at Koo Ming Kwon Gallery in Hong Kong from 19 June to 2 July 2010 – made accessible an otherwise ‘wasted’ balcony space in the Koo Ming Kwon Gallery. It invited the audience to climb up to the ‘second floor’, thus changing their view of the space; at the same time, through the props and materiality of the installation it suggested certain spatial practices as common in Hong Kong poorer communities.
