Origin – from Old French origine “origin, race”, and directly from Latin originem “a rise, commencement, beginning, source; descent, lineage, birth”, from the stem of oriri “arise, rise, get up; appear above the horizon, become visible; be born, be descended, receive life”; figuratively “come forth, take origin, proceed, start” (of rivers, rumours, etc.); from Proto-
Indo-European *heri- “to rise”.
Spoons are probably the oldest non-violent tool of human kind and as such also the source of civilisation. They turn nourishment into food.
On a more personal spoons are also the source of my own creative journey, a place I always like to return to.
‘Origins’ was shown as part of the group show AVA |i| label curated by Dr. Daniel Lau at Koo Ming Kwon Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong from 9 to 19 October 2019.
